
In a thrilling Group B clash at the Men’s African Volleyball Club Championship, Kenya’s General Service Unit (GSU) secured a hard-fought victory in five sets over Uganda’s Nemostars Volleyball Club (3–2: 26–28, 25–21, 20–25, 25–16, 15–7). The encounter, which lasted 2 hours and 3 minutes, allowed GSU to strengthen its position among the pool’s front-runners.
Despite a closely contested opening, Nemostars managed to control the critical moments to take the first set (28–26), thanks to impressive offensive efficiency. They continued their momentum by winning the third set (25–20) after GSU leveled the match in the second set (25–21), showing increased tactical sharpness.
Trailing two sets to one, General Service Unit maintained composure and consistency during the crucial stages. The Kenyan side dominated the fourth set (25–16), controlling the tempo, and completed their comeback with a convincing fifth-set performance (15–7), capitalizing on Nemostars’ unforced errors and better tactical discipline.
A turning point in Group B
With this victory, General Service Unit now records three wins and one loss, accumulating 7 points in total, securing second place in Group B just behind Egypt’s Al Ahly Sporting Club.
Meanwhile, Nemostars Volleyball Club suffered their third defeat, putting their qualification hopes in jeopardy. They now sit fifth in the group standings, with 4 points, 7 sets won and 11 lost, for a set ratio of 0.636.
