From August 22 to September 7, women’s volleyball will usher in a new era with the premiere of the renewed format approved by the FIVB. For the first time there will be 32 teams in competition, divided into 8 groups of 4 teams.
In the group stage, each country will play three matches under the system all against all. Only the best two from each group will advance to the round of 16, where the direct elimination stage will begin.
From there, every duel will be decisive:
Round of 16: 16 teams; winners advance to quarterfinals.
Quarterfinals: 8 teams, the 4 winners move on to the semi-finals.
Semi-finals: winners compete for gold and losers compete for bronze.
Grand Final: the new World Champion will lift the cup and will automatically secure his place in the 2027 World Cup. 
With this new system, the FIVB seeks to give greater universality, competitiveness and excitement to the tournament, which will be held every two years from now on.
