With just a few days left before the African Women’s Volleyball Championship in Nigeria, a Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) inspection mission was dispatched to evaluate the preparations and ensure the smooth execution of the competition. The delegation was led by Ali Yaro, CAVB Board member and president of Zone III, whose visit aimed at assessing the readiness of the host country for this prestigious event.
This year’s edition is particularly significant, with 24 teams from various African nations set to participate—a record number that underscores the growing prominence of women’s volleyball on the continent. The high level of participation demands meticulous logistical planning to provide optimal conditions for the teams and ensure that the competition meets international standards.
In this regard, Ali Yaro conducted a tour of the facilities designated for the event, including hotels, training venues, and the competition grounds. He also held meetings with the leadership of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation and the Customs Volleyball Club to discuss final adjustments and coordination efforts ahead of the tournament.
Following the inspection, Ali Yaro expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the local organizing committee while providing recommendations for further improvements before the start of the tournament.
The African Women’s Volleyball Championship is shaping up to be a landmark edition, bringing together the continent’s top teams in pursuit of glory. The stakes are high.
The CAVB’s involvement in monitoring the preparations reflects the strong commitment of its President, Mrs. Bouchra Hajij, to professionalizing and enhancing the appeal of African volleyball. By ensuring the quality of infrastructure and compliance with organizational requirements, the Confederation aims to deliver a high-level event, worthy of the greatest international competitions, for both players and spectators.
With this final evaluation now completed, all eyes turn to Nigeria, where Africa’s best teams are gearing up for thrilling battles on the court. The passion for women’s volleyball is set to ignite the continent, making this edition one of the most exciting in recent years.
