Seeking to bounce back in the tournament, Club Castel of Algeria delivered a commanding performance this Tuesday by defeating the Volleyball Club Garde Républicaine from the Democratic Republic of Congo 3 sets to 1 (25–13, 23–25, 25–11, 25–19) in Match 026 of the 46th edition of the African Men’s Volleyball Club Championship.
A well-managed match despite a scare in the second set
Right from the start, the Algerians imposed their pace, easily claiming the first set 25–13 in just 18 minutes, showcasing superior technique and physical dominance.
However, the Garde Républicaine responded in the second set. Taking advantage of a brief lapse from Castel, the Congolese side showed cohesion and determination, managing to equalize by taking the set 25–23 after a hard-fought 30 minutes.
But Club Castel quickly regained control. In the third set, they steamrolled through with authority, winning 25–11 in 24 minutes and leaving no doubt about their intent.
The fourth and final set saw the Congolese team attempt a comeback, but Castel’s efficiency and composure prevailed. The Algerians closed the match 25–19 in 22 minutes, sealing a deserved victory after 1 hour and 34 minutes of play.
