The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) held a significant working meeting on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the headquarters of the African volleyball governing body in Rabat, Morocco. This strategic gathering, presided over by Madame Bouchra Hajij, President of the CAVB, was attended by the vice-presidents of the African institution, as well as an FIVB delegation composed of Mr. Paulo Barone, FIVB Head of Development and Substinability and Mr. Luis Alexandre, FIVB régions director.
On this occasion, Madame Bouchra Hajij highlighted the remarkable growth of volleyball across the continent:
« Today, volleyball is played in all 54 African countries, whether in grassroots development, competitive volleyball, or beach volleyball, across all categories for both men and women, » she stated.
She also emphasized the importance of good governance and transparency in managing African volleyball, as key factors in increasing the sport’s credibility and visibility:
« We must excel in governance and transparency to strengthen the credibility and image of African volleyball. The CAVB is working diligently to enhance its reputation with the goal of attracting sponsors and partners, » she explained.
Regarding financial management, the CAVB President outlined the measures put in place to ensure strong governance:
« We rely on internal auditors and controllers while also engaging external auditors. All of these stakeholders share the same objective: to uphold and enhance the image of CAVB, making it more attractive to sponsors and partners, » she added.
This meeting reflects the commitment of both African and international volleyball governing bodies to collaborate in structuring and promoting the sport more effectively across the continent.
