Kenya’s General Service Unit Overcomes Club Castel (Algeria) After Early Setback

In one of the most hotly contested matches of the day at the African Men’s Volleyball Club Championship, currently underway in Misurata, General Service Unit (GSU) from Kenya came from behind to defeat Club Castel of Algeria in four sets (3-1).

A promising start for Castel, but GSU strikes back

Club Castel opened the match strongly, claiming the first set 25–21, showcasing solid defensive coordination and effective serving. However, GSU quickly adjusted their strategy and responded with intensity.

The Kenyans bounced back in the second set, displaying greater aggression at the net and a more compact block. They leveled the match by winning the set 25–21.

Kenyan dominance in the final sets

Building on their momentum, GSU took full control in the third set, comfortably winning it 25–18, as Club Castel struggled with reception errors and offensive inefficiency.

The fourth set proved to be the most balanced of the encounter. Determined to push the match to a tie-break, Club Castel fought back with intensity, but the Kenyans held their ground to edge the set 25–22, securing their overall victory.
